Prathama Bank is the first Regional Rural Bank of India, sponsored by Syndicate Bank established on 2nd October, 1975, with its Head Office at Moradabad in accordance with Regional Rural Bank Ordinance 1975 issued on 26th September, 1975 (Replaced later by Regional Rural Bank Act, 1976(2) of 1976 of Government of India).
Prathama Bank is a Scheduled Bank placed under the IInd schedule of Reserve bank of India. Ownership of the Bank is vested with the Central Government 50 %, Syndicate Bank 35 % and the Uttar Pradesh Government 15 %. The Bank is operating in 4 districts namely Moradabad, Rampur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar and a newly formed district Bheem Nagar with a network of 242 branches.

National Pioneer in the field of promotion of Solar Home Lighting. Bank’s efforts have been recognized and the Bank has been awarded INDIA POWER AWARDS for the years 2008-09, 2009-10 & 2010-11;
