A Unique Regional Rural Bank

Prathama Bank is the first Regional Rural Bank of India, sponsored by Syndicate Bank established on 2nd October, 1975, with its Head Office at Moradabad in accordance with Regional Rural Bank Ordinance 1975 issued on 26th September, 1975 (Replaced later by Regional Rural Bank Act, 1976(2) of 1976 of Government of India).

Prathama Bank is a Scheduled Bank placed under the IInd schedule of Reserve bank of India. Ownership of the Bank is vested with the Central Government 50 %, Syndicate Bank 35 % and the Uttar Pradesh Government 15 %. The Bank is operating in 4 districts namely Moradabad, Rampur, Amroha and a newly formed Sambhal district with a network of 359 branches and 16 ATMs live.

It has been widely appreciated and recognized by NABARD, GOI and other international forums. The Bank has promoted largest number of SHGs, JLGs and Farmers’ Clubs in the state of UP;
  • National Pioneer in the field of promotion of Solar Home Lighting. Bank’s efforts have been recognized and the Bank has been awarded INDIA POWER AWARDS for the years 2008-09, 2009-10 & 2010-11; Only one Bank from India was invited in the International Seminar on “Energy Access” at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This honour was given to Prathama Bank;
  • Commitments fulfilled towards Financial Inclusion by providing ICT based banking facilities in all villages identified for financial inclusion as per the Government of India guidelines.
